Description:

The Apprentice Program at our Garage Door Academy is designed to build confident, safety-first technicians from the ground up. Students 18 and up will learn how garage doors function as systems — not just parts — with a focus on proper installation, inspection, diagnostic technique, and customer professionalism with the goal to get you out there and working; to get you hired.

This program introduces hands-on fundamentals, including tool use, jobsite safety, part identification, and structural mounting methods. More importantly, it trains the mindset of responsibility that comes with working in family homes.

Outcome:

Cancellation Policy:

We understand events may occur that interfere with your best plans. You may reschedule for a 10% fee after confirming with us your calendar booking with R&R Academy within 10 days of your scheduled session due to administrative costs incurred with R&R Academy.

Advanced Installation & Diagnostics

Best for: Working installers, independent contractors, experienced employees.

Description:

This program, offered by the Garage Door Academy, sharpens technical ability and judgment in high-risk, high-responsibility situations. Technicians will go beyond basic installs into advanced diagnostics, failure analysis, and corrective strategies, with a heavy emphasis on safety and durability, making it a crucial component of our Technician Training Programs.

This program covers critical areas such as spring systems, opener force controls, limited-space installs, material compatibility, and long-term durability planning, aligning with our Safety Compliance Workshops to ensure best practices in the field.

Participants develop deeper competency in:

- Spring systems and tension control

- Motor testing and limits

- Structural troubleshooting

- Installation failures and repairs

- Load balance engineering

- Field condition adaptation

Outcome:

Confident, technically advanced professionals who diagnose accurately and install safely.

Rescheduling Policy

R&R Garage Door Academy schedules training services in advance and travels to the client’s location. Because preparation and travel coordination are required, the following rescheduling policy applies:

All scheduled training may be rescheduled, not canceled.

A 10% rescheduling fee will be applied to all rescheduled appointments to cover administrative coordination and travel-related costs.

Rescheduling requests must be submitted at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled training date.

Rescheduling requests made within 48 hours of the scheduled training date will still incur the 10% rescheduling fee and are subject to availability.

Same-day rescheduling or failure to provide access to the training location may result in forfeiture of the scheduled session and require full rebooking.

The rescheduling fee applies regardless of reason, as instructor availability, preparation time, and travel arrangements are reserved specifically for your training.

Training Schedule Overview

Daily Training Hours

Standard Training Hours:

9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Each training day runs for 6 hours, which includes instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on learning, along with a catered meal break of half an hour.

📅 Weekly Training Days

Our Technician Training Programs typically run from Thursday through Saturday (3 consecutive days).

This structure allows trainees to complete a full program without interrupting a traditional workweek.
